Match Preview: St Johnstone vs LASK

This history-making St Johnstone squad is on the brink of achieving the unthinkable once again. Thursday night's game against LASK is the biggest in the club’s existence, a win means McDiarmid Park will host at least three more European games until December.

Callum Davidson’s men once again made Perth proud in Austria last week after putting on a valiant display. Chris Kane scored his second of the European campaign when he slid in to meet a Glenn Middleton cross, giving Saints the lead. Middleton was electrifying down the left, his drilled cross into Ali McCann almost doubled St Johnstone’s tally. The Northern Ireland international rifled a shot goalwards but it was equalled by the LASK goalkeeper.

After a few more goal scoring opportunities for St Johnstone, Jamie McCart brought down the Black and Whites striker Karamoko in the box. The forward coolly slotted the penalty past Zander Clark.

Zander had a terrific game, pulling off an array of jaw-dropping saves, thus proving he is Scotland squad calibre.

Now it’s time for the home leg. With the backing of a packed-out McDiarmid Park, Perth’s own St Johnstone will look to create history once again. Saints are just 90 minutes from reaching the European group stages for the first time ever.
