Matty Foulds hailed the character of team after our comeback win against Ayr United at Somerset Park.
The defender sparked the revival in Ayrshire when coming off the bench at half-time to net his first goal for St Johnstone.
Following the 4-2 win, Matty said: “We showed character in the second half to come out fighting. We knew it was going to be a challenge. Every game will be if you play the way we did in the first half.
“But we got the early goal in the second half and there was only one team in the ascendency to go and win the game.
“I was told to just get crosses into the box and make things happen. I thought we all did that in the second half.”
He added: “I’m over the moon to score my first St Johnstone goal. I don’t really know what I was doing in the box, to be honest! But I was in the right place at the right time.
“We always knew we would have chances in the second half if we played the right way. We created chance after chance to get a massive three points.
“It’s probably the best feeling, away from home, when you can put a performance on like that after being down at half-time – then to share the moment with players, staff and especially the fans who travelled on a Friday night. They were exceptional.
“We’ve now got the cup game on Tuesday so we’ll look to take the momentum into that and then we’ll go again on Saturday.”
