New Season, New Kit, New Number

Saints’ homegrown striker Stevie May is the first to put on the double cup winner's new home kit.

Stevie caught up with Saints media to express how impressed he was with the new strip: “It’s really good, it fits well and it’s pretty similar to what we’ve had over the years. We keep it simple. It’s nice, I'm sure the fans will love it.”

Along with the new look comes a new number for the Saints’ youth product. May decided to change 14 to 7: “It’s a number I liked. I’ve switched numbers a lot in my career. Very rarely have I been the same number a couple of years in a row. It became available so I thought why not give it a try.”

The home strip will make its debut in front of 1000 season ticket holders tomorrow night when the Saints take on Preston in a pre-season friendly.

The prospect of playing in front of a home crowd again is something May is looking forward to: “Obviously after the successful season we’ve had it’s nice for fans to come back and celebrate that. There’s a thousand coming in so that’s a start. There’s a lot of people that would’ve wanted to come but can’t come. Hopefully, over the next few weeks, we can start to welcome more and more.”
