Simo Valakari

“The new guys have blended very well with our team. That is a credit to the players who have been here and set the standards and the foundations.

“The new boys come with their qualities and characteristics and that adds to our team. As I say it is still early days but the hard work continues.

“You have to remember that during pre-season teams are at different stages of their preparations for the new season. That is why it is even more important to look at what our team is doing.

“During these pre-season games, I am looking for the body language, the behaviour of our players, what is happening when we lose the ball, do we track back etc.”

Kai Fotheringham

“These games are all about getting minutes in the legs, but there is a great desire throughout the team. Keeping clean sheets was big for us last season and it will be important this season too.

“It has been a great pre-season so far. The additions so far have looked really good.

“I have played with Logan before. He will add good quality for us on that right side, and Unax as well. The two of them will challenge each other, but they are two very good players.

“Daniel Finlayson and Matty Todd have also come in and done really well. It is looking really well so far. You maybe see at this stage of the season things not gelling together quite how we would like, but the more we play with each other those combinations will come.”

ANDREW STEEVES

Andrew has made more than 400 appearances for Montrose having first joined them more than 10 years ago in 2015.

Hailing from the Perthshire village of Scone, he worked his way through the youth academy at Saints alongside Ali McCann and Jason Kerr and started training regularly with the first team.

At just 16, he was named on the bench for a league match up at Pittodrie against Aberdeen.

Andrew, always hard-working and a true professional, continued to push for first team honours but admitted himself that competition at the time was incredibly fierce with the likes of Brian Easton and Tam Scobbie in the squad.

He was a familiar face on the coaching front at McDiarmid Park and is always welcomed back to the stadium with a warm smile.

Everyone at the club is looking forward to seeing Andrew on July 4. We hope as many of our supporters can turn up at Links Park to give him a cheer and, of course, back Simo’s Saints.
