St Johnstone WFC showed their resolve to battle back and earn a point away at Livingston on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints had made the worst possible start when, in just the second minute, Justine Strain raced clear, rounded goalkeeper Bobby Cochran and tucked into the net.
But Josh Henderson’s side worked hard to find a way back into the SWPL2 contest and were awarded a penalty kick as the game reached its latter stages.
Steffi Simson dispatched at the third time of asking after retakes had been required.
Henderson said: “It was a good game and both teams had chances. Livingston scored in the second minute and that put us on the back foot straight away.
“But we have been talking about responding better – and I certainly think we did that on Sunday. We got ourselves back into the game and started to take care of the ball. I feel we deserved at least a point out of the match.”
He added: “Steffi showed good resilience to step back up and score the penalty. She would have liked to have scored the first one – but it was deserved for her and an important goal.
“Last year, we probably would have lost that game. Picking up a point like that at a tough venue shows that we’re going in the right direction.”
