Our under-19s kicked-off their league season on Tuesday evening with an entertaining 3-3 draw against Ayr United.
The Saints came out of the traps quickly and defender Cole Voy was at the double with two headers from Callum Boyle corner kicks.
On the half hour mark, two became three when Dougal McAdam finished from the edge of the box.
Ayr would work their way into the game after the break and pulled themselves back into contention through Keiren O’Brien’s double.
It looked like the Saints were going to hold out for an opening day three points, but Corey McCubbin netted a last-gasp equaliser.
U19s coach Danny Griffin said: “We knew it was going to be tough – and every game will be considering we have a young side.
“But hopefully the confidence will build game-by-game. We created a few chances in the first half, scoring three and missing a couple.
“We knew they were going to come out strong in the second half and play off the big striker. To concede right at the death was a hard one to take.
“But, overall, I was really pleased with the boys because they worked very hard.”
