Squad Injury Update from Steven MacLean

“Firstly we were delighted to see Chris Kane back out there on Saturday. He’s worked incredibly hard to get where he is. It’s not been easy for him, so for him to have that light at the end of the tunnel is brilliant for everyone.

“The first step for Kano was to get back to full training and then out on the pitch for minutes. Now it’s time for him to start pushing for a place in the team. He’s not had a lot of time training so we’re trying to accelerate that as fast as we can.

“We need to be careful with him given how long he has been out for but it was great to see him back out there.

“Callum Booth is heading to see a specialist. It’s not totally confirmed as to whether he’s needing surgery but it does look likely at this stage. The injury is in a complicated area which is why it’s taken a bit longer to get sorted.

“Melker pulled up in training last Friday with a hamstring problem, it will be a difficult one to get him ready for the weekend.

“With Andy Considine coming off against Motherwell we’re taking all protocols when it comes to potential concussions. We’re hopeful he will be available for the weekend and we will assess come the end of the week.

“It was good to have a few boys come back into things on Saturday with Connor McLennan and Ryan McGowan. We lost Ryan on the day of the game against Dundee United which was a blow but it’s great to have him as an option again.”
