St Johnstone Women return to SWPL2 action this coming Sunday when Stirling University make the trip through to the McDiarmid Park astro.

Kick-off will be 4pm and, as always, all support is welcome.

Saints sit eighth in the current standings – two places and eight points clear of the students.

Josh Henderson’s side, who were without a league fixture last weekend, are looking to build on their 1-1 draw with Dundee United earlier in the month.

Reflecting on that particular result, Niamh Irvine said: “We knew we could match them all over the pitch and we managed to start on the front foot, creating plenty of chances.

“Going 1-0 up by half-time, I think you could really see what we were trying to do in the game. Second half was a bit more back and forth, with Dundee United probably coming into it a little more. But we still held our own.

“In the end, the game could have gone either way. I think it was still a good point on the board for us.”

Saints kept legs ticking over last weekend despite not having a competitive fixture.

Now full focus has turned to Stirling University.

Niamh said: “We’ll look to start as we mean to go on when we face Stirling this Sunday.

“We’ve had good results against them, but we know they are capable of picking up points and do tend to surprise teams. You can never be complacent.

“They have good players and a big squad. It’s all about us bringing what we’ve been working on into the game.”
