St Johnstone WFC are back in action this weekend when they travel to take on Stirling University in the Sky Sports Cup.
Kick-off is 2pm at the University of Stirling and we would love to have your support.
Saints head into the match following league defeat against Queen’s Park last weekend, but confidence is still high in camp following a bright start to the season.
Manager Josh Henderson said: “It is nice to be involved in the cup this weekend. After our defeat last time out we can reset and focus on the cup.
“We know coming up against Stirling that it is going to be a difficult game. Every team wants to have a cup run, so for us we need to go out there and perform well.
“We need to go in with a positive attitude and hopefully we will come out with a positive result.”
On last week’s defeat to Queen’s Park, Josh continued: “I thought first half we were good. We were frustrated in spells that we couldn’t take more chances but that will come in time.
“We want to concede less goals and we are working on that. Over the course of the campaign so far there have been plenty of positives.
“In spells we have been good going forward and in spells we have been good defensively. We just need it all to come together on a consistent basis.”
A new-look squad was assembled over the summer and Josh believes the team is starting to gel. He added: “We have new players in the squad who have all come in and done well. They are still learning as well. It takes time and we just need to be patient.
“The girls are all working hard and we will continue to improve.”
Josh was also keen to thank Saints fans for their brilliant support at the McDiarmid Park astro so far this season.
He said: “It has been great. A lot of fans I recognise from last year but I have noticed a lot of new faces too.
“That is huge for us. We hope to continue to grow as a club and we hope more supporters will come down to see us.”
