Taylor Steven was in from the start on Tuesday evening as Scotland U21s returned to UEFA European Qualifying action.
The match against group leaders Portugal took place at the Estadio Antonio Coimbra Da Mota. A crowd of almost 4000 watched on.
Taylor had the young Scots’ best chance of the opening exchanges when he worked his way into a promising position before guiding his strike over the bar.
The hosts opened the scoring just shy of the half hour mark and then added a second on the stroke of the break. A third arrived in the 54th minute.
Taylor played 67 minutes of the game and was deployed out wide behind forward Ryan Oné.
The Scots sit third in Group B after eight matches.
