Our U19s are back in action on Tuesday evening as they host Edinburgh City at the McDiarmid Park astroturf (kick-off 7pm).

The young Saints go into the match in a confident mood after a series of encouraging performances, with Danny Griffin’s side showing signs of real progress as the season develops.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Arran Brookfield believes the squad are moving in the right direction.

“We are in a really positive place at the moment. The squad is gelling together and I think our performances are improving,” he said.

“We are heading into the game tomorrow with confidence and hopefully if we perform well we can get a result.

“Edinburgh City will be another tough test for us. They will be physical but we need to stand up to that and play our own game.”

While the young Saints have been competitive in every match so far, defender Arran feels the group is on the verge of turning good performances into consistent results.

He continued: “We have drawn a couple of games that we probably should have won this season, but it is important that we haven’t lost those games.

“As we improve as the season goes on, hopefully we will start to pick up more wins.”

Arran also praised the influence of Danny Griffin, whose experience at both club and international level is proving invaluable to the squad’s development.

He added: “I am really enjoying working with Danny. He has great experience and he knows what it takes to do well at this club.

“Every day you just try and pick up knowledge from him and the rest of the coaching team to ultimately make you a better player.”
