The under-19s picked up three points against Edinburgh City on Tuesday evening thanks to a convincing 5-1 victory.

The young Saints were two up at the break before building on their advantage in the second half.

Adam Shaeb netted a double, with the other goals coming from Romano Poli, Dougal McAdam and a trialist.

Coach Danny Griffin said: “It was a good performance. They worked hard. We got the ball down and passed it nicely, putting Edinburgh City under pressure.

“We started to win the battle too and managed to get that important first goal. We built on it and then asked them to keep it going after half-time.

“We managed to kill the game off but perhaps switched off a little in the closing stages. It would have been nice to keep the clean sheet for all the hard work, but we conceded a silly goal.

“Overall, I was happy with how the boys performed. Scoring five goals was a bonus and we now move onto the next one.”
