It was Scottish Youth Cup (U18) action for the young Saints on Friday evening.
And Murray Binnie’s second half goal secured a 1-0 win away at Stirling Albion and progression to the next round of the competition.
Saints can now look forward to the draw for round three.
Coach Danny Griffin said: “The most important thing was getting through. The boys worked very hard. Sometimes the football was good, sometimes not so good.
“But, as we said, getting into the next round of the cup was most important and now we can look forward to the draw.
“It was a nicely-worked goal, played into the midfield, space created, we got a third-man runner and there was a great cross to the back post and finish.
“It was pleasing to see what we had been working on in training transfer into the game.”
