Zander Clark Called Up To The Scotland National Team

Everyone at the Football Club would like to congratulate Zander Clark on his call-up to the Scotland squad.

Zander joined St Johnstone in 2008 at the age of 16 and made his way through the Academy to become the first-choice goalkeeper.

Saints fans have watched him develop into the Club's no.1, a Double Cup winner and now into the international set-up.

Zander is thrilled with the news and said: "I'd like to thank Steve Clarke for my inclusion in the Scotland squad. It's a great honour, and I am very proud.

"I'd also like to say thanks to Callum Davidson and his coaching staff, especially Paul Mathers, our goalkeeping coach. Paul has worked very hard with me and has helped to improve my game.

"I'm looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the Scotland squad next week for the vital World Cup qualifiers against Denmark, Moldova and Austria.

"But, of course, before that, my focus is firmly on St Johnstone's game on Thursday night against LASK."

Callum added: "We are very pleased for Zander. This is a great honour for him and for everyone at the Football Club.

"I've known Zander since he was a youngster at St Johnstone and watched him progress to a very high level.

"He has been in fine form for us in the past number of seasons, and his performances in European football this season have been first class. He has the ability and mentality to handle the big occasion."

It's also great news for the Football Club that Ali McCann, once again, is in the Northern Ireland squad and Ross Sinclair is in the Scotland under-21 squad. We wish them all the best of luck.
