LEAGUE TITLE JOY FOR UNDER 17s

26th July 2016

Youth team wins their elague with big win

The St Johnstone Under 17 side yesterday wrapped up their league title with an emphatic 10-0 win over Stranraer and that result, coupled with a defeat for nearest challengers Alloa Athletic, has ensured that the lads have won the competition, the IRN-BRU Scottish Football League U17 Youth Division.

It is a great achievement for the group of players who only came together as a group last summer and captain Martyn Shields (pictured) told the Saints Official Website “It is great that we have won it. First and foremost we are all here to learn how to be good footballers and develop good practices irrespective of results but coach Paul Sheerin has emphasised that there is nothing wrong with developing good winning habits at an early age.”

The team will now enter the U19 League Cup competition to give them a chance to test themselves against an older group of players.
