The Club is delighted to announce that 22-year-old striker Callum Hendry has signed a new contract which will keep him at McDiarmid Park until May 2022.

Calum has netted five goals in all competitions for Saints this season, including memorable late ones against Livingston and Hamilton at McDiarmid Park, and against Hearts at Tynecastle.

He was also the hero late on at home to Ross County in December with his late header sealing an important point for Tommy Wright's men.

Speaking shortly after agreeing his new deal, Cal said he's settled in Perth and is excited for the future.

"I'm delighted to be staying," he said.

"I've been wanting to get it over the line for a while now but these things take a while. I'm really enjoying my football at the moment and I'm excited about my future at the Club.

"Since I've moved up here I've settled well and I've made a life for myself in Perth now. I'm delighted to have commited my future here for another two-and-a-half-years.

"Hopefully now I can get myself a run of games and try to nail down my starting place. I want to be the first name on the manager's teamsheet and obviously I want to score plenty goals!"

Cal also spoke about the influence his Dad - former Scotland international Colin Hendry - and the Manager had on him signing a new deal.

"The Manager spoke to me early on in the season and told me he wanted to keep me here which was obviously pleasing.

"These things take a while to sort out but it's been on the cards since then. The Manager says he sees a big future for me here and I'm really looking forward to the next few years.

"My Dad has been guiding me and advising me which is great because he's always looking out for what's best for me.

"He knows I'm happy here, getting chances and scoring goals so it was a no-brainer really. Scoring goals is the best feeling for a striker and hopefully I can score many more."

The Manager also spoke about his striker's new deal, saying: "We're really pleased to have Callum signed up. We've been speaking to his representatives for a number of weeks now and he's earned it.

"He's been brilliant for us and it's a great bit of business from the Club to tie down another young and talented player.

"Callum can go out now and play without any worries about his future - not that he's the type of player who would worry anyway - and hopefully it gives him the confidence to go and progress even further."
