Festival of Fun at McDiarmid for local kids

21st April 2019

Sunday 21 April 2019

Pupils from Tulloch Primary and North Muirton Primary flocked to McDiarmid Park during the week for a fun day as part of 'The Wright Way' initiative currently being delivered to the youngsters in conjunction with Saints in the Community and our partners Aviva.

More than 80 kids took part in mini games including football, head and handball and relay races as part of the programme which encourages children to eat right and exercise daily.

The Manager himself joined in along with Saints first-team players Joe Shaughnessy, Liam Craig, Zander Clark, Drey Wright, Jason Kerr and Niall Keown.

Speaking to the club's official website on Wednesday, the manager Tommy Wright said: "It's brilliant to see the kids out there today and it's been a great initiative so far.

"Danny and his coaches have been in the schools delivering the project which is all about health and wellbeing. Today marks the end of Tulloch Primary's six-week block and also marks the beginning of North Muirton's programme.

"It's something that the club, Saints in the Community and Aviva should be really proud of. The kids have had great fun and that's what it's all about."

Lorraine McNamara, Brand and Sponsorship at Aviva, said: "Aviva are delighted with the success of ‘The Wright Way’ initiative as part of our Community Partnership with St Johnstone.

"February saw the launch of the plan in two local primary schools with the support of St Johnstone and Tommy Wright. It has been a good opportunity to speak to children about healthy eating and fitness and we are now developing it further to take to other schools in the area."
