Former Saints player John Lambie passes away

10th April 2018

Tuesday 10 April 2018

The club is saddened to hear of the passing of former player and coach John Lambie, who has died today aged 77.

John made 153 appearances for Saints between 1969 and 1973, scoring five goals. John played in the 1969 League Cup Final against Celtic, and played in 5 out of the 6 UEFA Cup matches the club played in 1971.

He played his last game for Saints in October 1973, before retiring and joining the club's coaching staff for a spell. He went on to become manager at Hamilton Academical and Falkirk, but is probably best known for his three stints at the helm of Partick Thistle - the last of which came to an end in 2003.

Saints were one of only two senior clubs Lambie represented as a player, the other being Falkirk.

The thoughts of all at the club are with John's friends and family at this sad time.
