Jordan Northcott awarded Peter Steinle award

Monday 9th November 2020

St. Johnstone FC are pleased to announce that Jordan Northcott has been awarded the Peter Steinle Foundation Trophy for 2020.

The award is presented every season to a St. Johnstone U18s player, chosen by their coaches to be the 'player of the year'.

It was started in 2013 in memory of Peter Steinle, a hotelier who was a loyal St. Johnstone fan, who sadly passed away due to cancer. His family then raised money through the Peter Steinle Foundation, with £500 to be awarded to a promising young St. Johnstone player every year to pay towards their travel, kit and coaching expenses.

Jordan received his trophy in front of the Steinle family's advertising board for the Cairngorm Hotel.

The young striker said upon receiving the award:

"I'm delighted. It was something I didn't expect, because I was out on loan last season but I did well when I played for the U18s so I'm delighted to win the award.

"It's great to be named alongside current first team players who have won the award in the past. They're all players I look up to and to win the same trophy as those players is great.

"I've been involved with the academy for quite a long time now so I've worked with most of the coaches and every single one of them have been great, they've helped me get to where I am today."
