Manager happy with first day back

Saints players are back in training ahead of the 2019/2020 season with Tuesday’s McDiarmid Park session being used to test the squad after their five week break and Manager Tommy Wright is delighted with what he saw.

The Saints manager said “It’s great to be back and see the boys again. They look refreshed and ready to go and I have to say that they’ve come back in unbelievable shape. They’ve surpassed everything expected of them in terms of fitness and body fat measurements.

“Now we’re ready to really push on and get stuck into the hard work. The games will come quickly and we look forward to that.”

Those matches commence a week tonight when Saints face Glentoran in Belfast and ahead of that there are several more days of training before the squad head to their week-long pre-season camp in Northern Ireland on Sunday.

New recruits Elliott Parish and Wallace Duffy were part of the squad yesterday and Tommy added: “It’s good to have them on board and I’m sure they’ll settle into the squad quickly.”
