PREVIEW | Ross County v Saints

4th October 2019

Friday 4 October 2019

It's a trip north up the A9 for Saints tomorrow as we head to Dingwall to take on Ross County in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Tommy Wright's men are still looking for their first victory of the 2019/20 league season and will be hoping to get that all important three points before the upcoming international break.

Premiership newboys Ross County have started the season well with 11 points from their opening 7 matches and the Staggies currently occupy 5th place, only behind Aberdeen on goal difference.

Saints remain in 12th place after last weekend's home defeat to Motherwell but a victory could see the Club rise to 10th.

TEAM NEWS

Saints and Manager Tommy Wright were dealt an injury blow earlier today with the news that Liam Gordon will be sidelined for around eight weeks due to a knee injury sustained in training.

It's the second training ground injury that 23-year-old Gordon has picked up this season after fracturing his elbow in a fall earlier in the campaign.

Midfielder Liam Craig remains out and on-loan Rangers man Jason Holt will be assessed ahead of the trip to Dingwall tomorrow.

Other than that, the Manager has a full squad to pick from ahead of what is a crucial fixture for Saints in the Highlands tomorrow.

PRE-MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE

The Manager: "Obviously we'd like to be going into tomorrow's game with a win under our belts but we don't and that's disappointing.

"We can take some positives from last weekend despite the result as we controlled the game for large spells and their 'keeper was far busier than ours.

"Ultimately we lost the game and we need to do better especially defensively as it's individual errors that have been costing us.

"We go into every game believing we can get a victory. One result could change things for us and hopefully that'll be tomorrow. A win would obviously make me happy but we still have a lot of work to do.

"Ross County have started the season well and 11pts from 7 games is a good return.

"They're difficult to beat and have one or two players that can hurt the opposition. I've watched them against Motherwell and of course we played them at McDiarmid Park in July.

"That particular game in the Betfred Cup epitomises the season we've had so far. We should have been 3 or 4-0 up in that match and ended up 1-2 down.

"I believe that every game we go into we can get a victory even if the form book would suggest otherwise and hopefully tomorrow is the day that we really kickstart our season."

SUPPORTER INFORMATION

Tickets must be purchased from the Ross County Ticket Office at the stadium before the match as there are no cash only gates at the ground. The Ticket Office at the Global Energy Stadium is located across from the main front door.

Saints supporters will be accommodated in the North Stand and admission prices for the match are as follows:

  • Adults - £25
  • Over 65s - £10
  • Students - £10
  • U18s - £5

Disabled supporters will pay the relevant gate price with personal assistants - if required - going free of charge.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Tomorrow is the 51st meeting between the two clubs in all competitions, with Saints enjoying 20 wins to Ross County's 11. The fixture has ended in a stalemate on 19 occasions.

The only meeting between the clubs this season came back in July in the Betfred Cup with Ross County winning 1-2 at McDiarmid Park.

Despite that result, Tommy Wright's record against the Dingwall outfit has been good in previous years particularly at the Global Energy Stadium.

You have to go back to April 2015 for the last time the Staggies won at home against Saints, with Tommy Wright's men unbeaten in the last five trips to Dingwall - winning four.
