Saints Reserves took on Falkirk Reserves on a sunny afternoon at McDiarmid Park.

Alan Maybury included Brian Easton, Tony Watt and Aaron Comrie in his starting XI from the first-team while Falkirk also named a number of experienced players in their side.

Saints had the first chance of the match after just two minutes. Euan O'Reilly did well down the right hand side and crossed for Shaun Struthers. The young striker couldn't keep it under control but the ball fell to Brian Easton at the edge of the area and he unleashed a left-footed strike which grazed the crossbar on it's way over.

Chances were at a premium in the early stages and it wasn't until the 25th minute that Saints created another meaningful opportunity.

Aaron Comrie found Shaun Struthers who then crossed for Tony Watt but he couldn't make enough contact to turn the ball into the net from close range.

Three minutes later and Watt had another chance this time forcing Falkirk 'keeper Mutch into making a good save.

Saints had the better of the chances in the first half but Falkirk did have one or two of their own as well. Lavery teed up Lewis Kidd at the edge of the area on 37 minutes but his effort flew over Ross Sinclair's crossbar.

Into the second half and Tony Watt had the first opportunity on 47 minutes but his strike from the edge of the box was always rising and didn't trouble Mutch.

Two minutes later though the deadlock was broken by the visitors. Jarvis picked out Lavery in the box and he fired home from close range to put Falkirk in front.

Jamie McKenzie and Brian Easton both saw efforts from distance creep by the post and Alan Maybury made changes bringing Jordan Northcott and Olly Hamilton on to replace Tony Watt and Cammy Ballantyne.

However it was Falkirk who looked the more likely to double their lead and O'Hara came close on 73 minutes but his effort just went wide of the target.

Marky Munro tried his luck from 25-yards-out but his effort fizzed past Mutch's post as Saints pushed to try and get the equaliser.

It wasn't to be though and it was the visitors Falkirk who took all three points.
