Saints 2-2 Livingston

Match Report by Ross Gardiner

Saints headed into Saturday’s clash with Livi looking to kickstart their season and put Saturday’s defeat to Celtic behind them.

Ali McCann came into the starting XI and the former Stranraer loanee looked impressive for Saints in the opening spell.

But the hosts fell a goal behind on 12 minutes when Scott Pittman smashed home a Stevie Lawless cross.

Clark did well to pounce on a Souda strike five minutes later as Gary Holt’s men looked to double their lead.

Zander proceeded to pull of an early contender for save of the season with a splendid one handed stop to keep Pittman out from 10 yards.

Lawless doubled the Livi lead on 40 minutes after heavy pressure from the visitors which appeared to involve an offside.

Scott Tanser have Saints their best chance of the half as he curled a free kick goal bound with the last kick of the half which was expertly palmed behind.

Jason Kerr managed an early shot but Nicky Devlin’s mazy run and drive reassured Livi’s dominance.

Saints grabbed their first goal of the season after a blunder at the back as tenacity from O’Halloran forced saw possession spilled to Kennedy.

The livewire winger rounded the keeper and slotted home to give Saints a route back into the game. 1-2.

Tommy brought on Callum Hendry for Swanson with 20 minutes to go and when the young striker couldn’t connect with a header five minutes later, O’Halloran snuck in behind, beat two men and saw his thunderbolt deflected wide.

And with eight minutes to go, Hendry snatched the leveller after a stramash in the box.

Ali McCann, who had bossed the midfield for Saints in the second half was switched for Liam Craig on 89 minutes after picking up a yellow for a professional foul.

There was late drama though as Richard Foster fouled Lyndon Dykes in the box following a break from a poor Vihmann clearance.

But Zander Clark got down fantastically to deny Livi a winner from the spot as the board went up to show five minutes of injury time.

And it finished 2-2 after a hard fought recovery from Saints who picked up their first point of the season.
