The Super Saints Weekly lotto - What You Need to Know
The Super Saints Weekly Lotto, run by the St Johnstone FC Facilities Association, is the club’s long-standing weekly lottery which is used for the creation and enhancement of facilities at McDiarmid Park.
Tickets are available to buy from a wide variety of agents across Perth and Kinross or you can have a permanent set of numbers in the draw each week and pay by Standing Order.
Taking part couldn’t be simpler – simply select any four numbers from thirty and if they match all four numbers drawn then you will win the jackpot or a share thereof. If you match three out of the four numbers then you will win a share of the runners-up pot – a minimum of £15.
Each entry costs £1.
The draw is made every Wednesday and the jackpot starts at £2,000 rising to a maximum of £25,000 – a number of people have been lucky enough to scoop that maximum prize.
Contact our Lotto Office on 01738 455000 for details of how to set up a Standing Order.
The St Johnstone Facilities Association is committed to the meeting three key objectives set out in the Gambling Act 2005, namely:
- Ensuring that gambling is fair and open
- Protecting children and vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling
- Keeping gambling free from crime and from being associated with crime INFORMATION
ABOUT PRIZES
Under the terms of our license with the Gambling Commission, we need to ensure that potential players of the Super Saints Weekly Lotto are empowered to make informed choices about gambling. Specifically, that before committing to gamble, our potential players understand the prizes on offer, how they might win them and the likelihood of them doing so.
HOW THE NUMBERS ARE CHOSEN
The draw is made at midday each Wednesday. The only occasions on which the draw may be made on another day is over the festive period and is dependant on public holiday dates. The draw is made on the premises of one of our agents in the presence of a representative of the St Johnstone FC Facilities Association and depending on the nature of the agent’s premises and business the numbers are picked by the agent, their work colleagues or customers.
THE POTENTIAL JACKPOT PRIZES AVAILABLE
The jackpot is won by anyone matching all four numbers drawn in the weekly draw. Where more than one person matches all four numbers then the jackpot is shared by those persons. The minimum jackpot amount is £2,000 and each time a jackpot is won, the prize reverts to that amount. When nobody matches all four numbers, a rollover of the jackpot occurs as follows: From that base amount, the jackpot rises in stages of either £1,500 or £2,000 per draw as follows: £3,500, £5,000, £6,500, £8,000, £10,000, £11,500, £13,000, £15,000, £16,500, £18,000, £20,000, £21,500, £23,000, £25,000. £25,000 is the maximum jackpot permissible under the terms of our licence.
RUNNERS UP PRIZES
A runners-up prize is won by anyone matching three out of the four numbers drawn in the weekly draw. The runners-up share a weekly amount of £500 irrespective of the jackpot amount. The £500 is shared by those matching three numbers. However, a minimum amount of £15 is guaranteed to each runner up.
INFORMATION ON HOW PROCEEDS ARE USED
Under the terms of our license with the Gambling Commission, we need to ensure that potential players of the Super Saints Weekly Lotto understand how much of their money goes to the ‘good cause’ (as defined by the Gambling Commission). The agent selling the ticket receives a commission from the Facilities Association of either 10% or 12.5% depending on the value of their overall sales for that week. Money from the proceeds is put towards the following week’s prizes – either £2,000 (£1,500 for the jackpot plus £500 for the runners-up pot) or £2,500 (£2,000 for the jackpot plus £500 for the runners-up pot). Expenses are deducted from income and includes but is not restricted to staff wages, bank charges, vehicle costs, licence fees and IT support charges. The amount remaining is for the ‘good cause’ and under the terms of our licence must always be a minimum of 20% of the total sales.
The net proceeds of the Super Saints Weekly Lotto are retained by the St Johnstone FC Facilities Association until such times as a request for a donation is made by the football club.
Under the terms of the Facilities Association’s constitution, such donations are to be used “to assist the creation, renewal and development of facilities for sport.” Recent examples of such donations include assistance with the club’s new synthetic playing surface and associated fencing and the provision of additional equipment for the club’s youth academy.
LOTTO - STANDING ORDER
You don’t have to live locally to buy a ticket and if you are a Saints fan living further afield then having a set of permanent numbers is a great way to support the club financially and be in with a chance of being a prize winner!
If you want to be in the draw and support the club EVERY week then you can have a permanent set of four numbers in the draw and pay by Standing Order – please contact our Ticket Office on 01738 455000 and they will be pleased to send you the relevant forms.
Lotto - Agents
Being an agent is a great way to earn some extra cash because agents get 10% of ticket sales for up to 50 tickets and 12.5% for sales of 51 tickets and above. What’s more, in the event that the agent sells a ticket which scoops the jackpot then he or she receives a cheque for 5% of the amount won by their client.
The club are always on the look out for new agents so if you are a retail outlet that would like to give your customers the chance to buy a ticket or if you feel that you can sell tickets amongst family, friends and work colleagues then phone the Lotto Office on Perth 455000 for details of how to become involved.
