Callum Hendry joined Saints in the summer of 2017 having impressed in pre-season training and matches, penning a one-year-deal.
Coming from a football family – dad Colin is the former Blackburn Rovers, Rangers and Scotland defender – Callum spent his early days in the Blackburn Rovers youth academy learning his trade although progress was halted by a couple of serious injuries.
Originally a defender, Callum progressed further up the pitch as he got older and benefitted from a loan-spell at Clitheroe. He didn't need much persuading when asked to head north to Scotland when given the chance to join Saints. In May 2018, Callum signed a two-year-deal to remain at McDiarmid Park and scored his first goal for the club in extra-time during the club's 4-2 victory in the League Cup against Queen of the South. Less than a month later, Callum joined Scottish League One outfit Brechin City on-loan to gain more first-team experience.
Callum returned to Saints after cutting short his loan spell with Brechin and featured in the first-team squad towards the end of the 2018/19 season netting twice in as many games against Tayside rivals Dundee.
