Zander joined the club on a full-time basis back in September 2008 having previously been with the youth set-up at Hamilton Academical.
He picked up an injury which had kept him out of the game for six months and after he was released by the New Douglas Park outfit Saints moved to snap him up and the 'keeper played a significant role as the club's U17 side won the league title in 2008/09.
Zander stepped up to the U19s and spent two successful seasons at that level before joining Elgin City on-loan for the 2011/12 season. His progress was sufficiently good enough to be given a contract extension at the club for the following season where he would again go out on-loan this time to Scottish Championship side Queen of the South.
He made his QoS debut in October 2013 in a 2-1 defeat to Dundee and Zander impressed many as he helped the Dumfries outfit reach the play-offs where they lost out to Falkirk. Zander re-joined Queen of the South the following season on another loan deal having signed another extension with Saints. Tommy Wright had his 6ft 3" keeper watched regularly over the course of that campaign where he helped Queen of the South to another play-off finish in a league which contained Hearts, Hibs and Rangers.
Zander returned to the club for the 2015/16 season and made his first team debut in September 2015 when he came on for Alan Mannus who was sent-off in a 2-1 victory over Dundee United. He continued to battle for the number one jersey with Mannus for the remainder of the campaign and the following season Zander made 31 appearances, keeping 10 clean sheets.
Zander and Mannus would compete together for a spot in the team until the summer of 2018, when Mannus left the club to return to Shamrock Rovers. Zander claimed the number one jersey for his own for the 2018/19 season and broke the club's top flight clean sheet record by recording six consecutive shutouts.
