Everyone at the club would like to wish David Wotherspoon every success as he now embarks on his testimonial year.

This is a deserved honour for one of the most iconic players to ever pull on the blue and white of St Johnstone Football Club.

Former Perth High School student David, who grew up locally in Aberargie and Bridge of Earn, fulfilled a boyhood dream by signing for us in 2013.

He gave everything for the club and his name will forever be synonymous with some of the greatest moments in our history.

David is one of just three St Johnstone players to lift THREE pieces of major silverware – the Scottish Cup in 2014 and 2021 and the League Cup in 2021.

He was a central figure in an unforgettable period of success for the club and, alongside silverware and European adventures, was a role model on and off the field of play.

His quality, consistency, professionalism and famous ‘Spoony Chop’ on the pitch were matched by his humility, loyalty and commitment off it.

Everyone at the club – and across the Perthshire community – was delighted when he represented Canada at the 2022 World Cup.

David’s testimonial year is an opportunity for the St Johnstone family to celebrate an outstanding career at McDiarmid Park and to show appreciation for years of service at the highest level.

A dedicated testimonial committee has now been gathered to organise events throughout the year.

For now, supporters can follow and engage with the David Wotherspoon testimonial committee on Facebook, where updates, events and announcements will be shared throughout the year.

You can find the Facebook page by searching ‘David Wotherspoon Testimonial Year’.

All the best, Spoony!
