Reaction: Kyle Thomson on U18s win against Morton

Goalkeeper Kyle Thomson shared his delight following our under-18s hard-earned 1-0 win against Morton.

Filip Franczak was teed-up by his brother Fran Franczak to clinch the three points with little under 10 minutes of the McDiarmid Park match remaining.

The young Saints are enjoying another strong Club Academy Scotland League season and are determined to keep the momentum going.

Thomson has recorded a number of clean sheets in recent weeks.

“In the first half I didn’t think we were great or ourselves, but the second half we started playing a bit better and used the ball to our advantage,” Thomson said after Friday’s win.

“We started winning second balls and all of the little things in a game that people sometimes don’t see also started to get better.

“Every point matters at the moment. It is tight margins. To get three points and a clean sheet, you can’t ask for much more.

“We were definitely a lot more solid in that second half and that is what I like to see from the players in front of me. It makes my life a lot easier.”

Thomson was, of course, thrilled to watch the Franczak brothers link-up to grab the winner.

He said: “Filip has been playing more of a forward role. He is getting chances to score goals – and that is what he is doing. He’s been doing really well.”
