YOUNG SAINTS BATTLE BACK FOR LATE POINT V ST MIRREN

26th July 2016

The Saints' Under 20s continued their good start to the season but had to settle for a point in an entertaining 3-3 draw with St Mirren at McDiarmid Park tonight.

On a night of heavy rain, Alex Cleland's charges found themselves 2-0 down early on but Craig Thomson got them back into the game with a good, long-range effort. However, it was soon 3-1 with a lovely Buddies goal from a free kick but before the interval it was down to a one goal deficit again thanks to Greg Hurst's effort from close range.

In a game peppered with lengthy delays for injuries, including Saints keeper Jordan Millar, Saints took advantage of the Buddies being down to ten men in the final minutes due to injury with a stoppage time goal from Neil Martyniuk.

SAINTS: Millar, Comrie, Page, McCawl, Gordon, Martyniuk, McLaren, C Thomson, Lander, Hurst, Simpson. Subs: McKenzie, G Kerr, C Thomson, Johnson, Docherty, Lumsden
