We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Joel Cotterill on a permanent transfer from Swansea City.
The Welsh U21 international has joined the Saints on a contract through until the summer of 2027.
Joel was with the Swans since the age of seven and made his senior debut in August 2022.
Aged 21, he has already picked up plenty of experience in the game with loan spells at Stockport County, Swindon Town, Bristol Rovers and Dundee, where he spent the second half of last season.
After joining Saints, Joel said: “I had a call with the gaffer on Monday and he told me everything about the club.
“I watched the game against Dundee on Wednesday night – and I saw how the team wants to play.
“Growing up at Swansea, it was always a team with the ball. I feel my biggest strength is being in possession and making things happen. I also like to drive forward and like to think I can be powerful with the ball.”
He added: “I’ve had different challenges out on loan. I think I’ve adapted previously and I’ve already got a taste for playing in the Scottish Premiership.
“It can be demanding and the games come thick and fast, but I’ll make sure I’m ready for it and up for the challenge.”
Joel has represented Wales right through the age groups.
He said: “Coming through the ranks of the Wales international youth teams has also taught me a lot.
“Our last camp is this month and then I’m done with the U21s. If I want to get to the first team at international level, I need to be performing here. It is a very good platform for me.”
Joel will wear the number 30 jersey.
