A thank you from Sam Stanton!

Midfielder Sam Stanton has given his thanks to both sets of supporters for their pre-match generosity before our weekend game against Dundee United.

Saints Fans Supporting Foodbanks held a special cash collection to support Sam and his family’s ongoing fundraising efforts in support of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

His daughter, Nina, was born with congenital heart disease (CHD). She was soon diagnosed with a large Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) – a hole between the lower chambers of the heart that causes oxygen‑rich blood to flow backwards, forcing the heart and lungs to work harder.

Now doing well, Sam and his family continue to raise money and awareness for the BHF in order to help others.

Between generous donations from both Saints and Dundee United supporters, as well as poster sales, an impressive £2072.05 was collected on Saturday.

Sam said: “To raise that amount of money was really outstanding and exceeded our expectations again. We never expected that amount to be raised.

“It really is heartwarming for us as a family and means a lot. We appreciate the terrific work that everyone puts in to make this happen.

“We’re very thankful and grateful for everyone’s kind donations. The money raised goes to a great cause and will hopefully help more people moving forward.”

Colin Mackay of Saints Fans Supporting Foodbanks, who helped with the collection for BHF, said: “An extraordinary effort from everyone and a real show of togetherness and solidarity between supporters of both clubs.”
