Arran Brookfield provided his reaction to the under-19s impressive 3-1 home win against Queen’s Park on Tuesday night.
The skipper netted the third of the evening with a spectacular free-kick to follow up first half goals from Trialist and Darryl McMutrie against a strong visiting side.
Arran laughed: “The last couple of weeks I’ve been practising those free-kicks in training. Sam [Gallagher] was also standing over the free-kick and a couple of the boys were saying it suited a left-footer.
“But I said, ‘it’s mine’ then hit it well and saw the ball flying towards goal. Queen’s Park were a really good team and moved the ball well. But we knew coming into the game how tough it was going to be.
“We dug deep and I thought everyone worked so hard in their individual battles all over the pitch. That helped us get the positive result.
“We’ve got a good group and there is still a lot of work to do. If we keep being positive and putting in the work, we can end up in a good place.
“This is something else for us to build on. It’s a marker, but let’s go and try get even better.”
