We are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Daniel Finlayson, subject to SFA clearance.
The 25-year-old has penned a two-year contract at McDiarmid Park through until the summer of 2028.
Finlayson is already excited to meet his new team-mates and get stuck into pre-season training for the 2026/27 Scottish Premiership campaign.
He said: “The club had a really good season and it’s an exciting time to be joining – an exciting time to be a player here.
“It seems like a positive place to be and, speaking to a few of the boys, they said they love it here – and obviously enjoyed last year. I know Reece McAlear and he had nothing but good things to say.
“Watching from afar last season, the turnout from supporters was amazing. I watched on TV when the team won the title at Dunfermline – and the fans looked amazing.
“Hopefully everyone can get behind the club again because I think it could be a special season.”
Finlayson started his career at Rangers and picked up initial loan experience at Orange County in America and then with St Mirren, where he later signed permanently.
The Northern Irish U21 international had a loan spell with Linfield before signing permanently with them in 2023. During his time there, he was named players’ player of the year and player of the year.
Most recently, Finlayson has been playing his football with Livingston.
Finlayson added: “I feel I’m a versatile defender and can play right-back or centre-back. If there is a change of shape, I can play anywhere across the backline.
“I’m someone who is committed and likes to defend first, but also get forward. I’m a hard-working player and someone who is going to give everything for the team, for the club and for the fans.
“I’ll recharge the batteries now but I’m already looking forward to getting back to work here at St Johnstone.”
