We are delighted to announce the signing of German striker Danny Schmidt, subject to international clearance.
The 23-year-old joins the Saints on a two-year contract through until the summer of 2028.
Danny, who was most recently signed with Fortuna Dusseldorf, met up with his new team-mates at McDiarmid Park on Tuesday morning.
A German youth international, the 6 foot 2 forward came through the ranks at Mainz 05 and has also spent time on loan at RW Essen.
He said: “I’m very happy and I’m so looking forward to playing at our stadium in front of our fans.
“Everyone has welcomed me so nicely. Everyone has been so helpful. It is a family club and I already feel really good here. My first impression is that this is also a nice city, with friendly people.
“This is a big challenge for me and it is my first time out of Germany. Of course, it is the top league in Scotland and everything is new to me. But I am so excited for what can happen.
“We know the league is going to be tough because there is a lot of quality. We have a good team, good coaches and we can compete.”
Danny added: “I am a strong player and like to play with the ball. I feel I have good technique and I like to shoot. I’ll be offensive but will also work hard for this team.”
Danny will wear the number 22 jersey at Saints.
