The under-19s made it three league wins from three on Tuesday night with a brilliant performance on the road.

The young Saints defeated Ayr United 6-0 at the Riverside Sports Arena, netting three goals in each half and putting in a solid defensive display.

Dougal McAdam and Danny Gray both netted doubles, while Jack Robertson and Cameron Brown were also on target.

Gray had opened the scoring early doors when he reacted quickest to guide into the net after tenacious work from McAdam, who had beaten the goalkeeper to the ball.

McAdam would get his own name on the scoresheet in the 18th minute when he raced onto a Robertson pass before slamming into the net after driving in at the angle.

He added another just after the half hour mark with a superb, flicked near-post finish from Trialist’s right-sided delivery.

Saints refused to take their foot off the gas in the second half and a fourth of the night arrived on 51 minutes when Gray tucked McAdam’s cut-back low into the bottom corner.

Robertson found the same corner not long after for number five and then substitute Brown rounded off the scoring with a clever, low finish after being slipped in by Adam Shaeb.

As well as showing plenty of attacking intent, the Saints defended resolutely and worked very hard for their clean sheet.

Saints: Trialist, Shaeb, Russell, Brookfield, McCormack (Crawford 69), Gray (Brown 69), Gallagher, Robertson, Trialist, Garden (Martin 60), McAdam.
