St Johnstone under-19s ran out 3-0 winners against Livingston at the Community Arena at McDiarmid Park tonight.
Danny Griffin and Gerry Creaney’s side started on the front foot, and it was first teamer Louis Lloyd who had the first real opening of the game. The Welshman showed pace and power to get away from the Livi defence before curling just wide of target.
Saints opened the scoring on 20 minutes when possession was robbed in the middle of the park and Dougal McAdam was fed down the right flank.
The wide man drove towards goal and cut back for the onrushing Jack Robertson, who showed composure to calmly slot into the back of the net.
Saints then doubled their lead just eight minutes later when Unax Álvarez de Eulate fired low past Evan Myles in the Livi net from the edge of the box.
It was a well taken finish from the first-team Spaniard who was gaining vital minutes following an ankle injury sustained in pre-season against Forfar.
Saints defended well in the second period to maintain their two-goal lead and a clean sheet, and a third goal was ultimately added just five minutes from full-time.
Jack Robertson again found himself in the right place at the right time in the Livingston penalty area before firing home into the back of the net to secure the three points.
