Head coach Simo Valakari was the delighted with the fight and impact of his substitutes as Saints struck late to earn a point in a 2-2 draw against Motherwell at McDiarmid Park.
Taylor Steven and Josh Campbell were on target and reflecting on the game, Simo said: “It was so pleasing that all the players who came on had a huge impact.
“That’s modern football – you can change half of your outfield players. Danny Schmidt came out there fighting.
“Josh Campbell hasn’t had the easiest start, but he brought energy and scored a great goal. Joel Cotterill gave us energy in the midfield as well.
“Logan Chalmers showed unbelievable quality with the ball – and produced a wonderful cross for the goal.
“Hopefully that is a big moment for Josh.”
On the personality of his players, Simo added: “I have talked a lot about the character and personality of my players.
“This is the proof. We were at home and scored the first goal, so it was disappointing that we didn’t get the second.
“We knew Motherwell would have their share of the ball, and our first goal was excellent build-up as well.”
