St Johnstone can confirm that it has been granted a licence to sell alcohol at our upcoming game against Kilmarnock and that the club will submit plans to Perth and Kinross Council to secure licences for the controlled sale of alcohol at matches across this season.
This Sunday, August 2, alcohol will be available for purchase from a pop-up gazebo at the rear of the East Stand at McDiarmid Park both before kick-off and at half-time of our William Hill Premiership fixture after Perth and Kinross Council granted the licence.
Alcohol sales will be from 1pm to 1.45pm and for the 15-minute interval at half-time.
Alcohol purchased can be consumed within a designated area at the rear of the East Stand and from two designated areas within the concourse.
We would like to remind supporters that alcohol may only be consumed within clearly designated areas and not in sight of the pitch.
The club will now apply for an alcohol licence on a game-by-game basis following the success of the club’s outdoor fanzone at McDiarmid Park, which opened last season, and featured food and drink options alongside entertainment designed to enhance the matchday experience for Saints fans of all ages. It has also proven to be popular with visiting supporters.
The club was granted licences for a number of games last season, and the club will make the application on a game-by-game basis following discussions with the relevant authorities. Applications will only be pursued for lower risk non-Category CIR matches.
Sales would be managed in full accordance with licensing regulations, with appropriate security and stewarding measures in place. Alcohol would only be able to be consumed within clearly designated areas and not in sight of the pitch, and all activity will be confined to clearly designated and monitored areas. Regular matchday safety protocols remain unchanged.
Previous successful alcohol applications demonstrated a managed approach to alcohol sales can contribute to a positive and safe matchday experience.
