We are delighted to announce the return of goalkeeper Toby Steward, who arrives back at McDiarmid Park on a season-long loan from Portsmouth.
Toby, who is no stranger to everyone at Saints, played a key role in our Scottish Championship-winning success last season.
The 21-year-old kept an impressive 20 clean sheets during the 2025/26 campaign – a league record – and is now excited to be back with us in the Premiership.
Toby said: “I’m so excited to be back. I had a great time last year. I’m just really happy.
“As soon as I heard there was interest, I wanted to come back. I’m glad it is all done. It was a long drive up the road but, of course, it is worth it. I’m excited to see all the guys again.
“I’ve already spoken to the gaffer and Paul [Gallacher]. I’ve had a really nice introduction back at the stadium.
“It’s a new challenge for us this season – a really good league with strong opposition. But this is a great opportunity for me and I look forward to working hard with the team.”
Toby added: “Last year was great and I played a lot of games. I’ll take a lot that I learned last season into this one.
“But I want to go again. I want to set myself new goals. I want to be successful with this team.”
Toby concluded: “The supporters made my time up here even more special. I’m looking forward to seeing them again. It’s a pleasure to play for them – and hopefully we can deliver.”
