Semi-final run for Super Saints at Tennent’s Sixes

Our Tennent’s Sixes team did the club proud over the weekend.

Day one group victories against Dundee and Dundee United had already qualified us for the knockout stage, despite a narrow 1-0 defeat against Aberdeen on day two.

We were drawn to face Motherwell in the quarter-final and battled superbly well to recover from a goal down.

A driving run and cross from Callum Booth with only a couple of minutes remaining found Peter MacDonald, whose neat touch fell for Cillian Sheridan at the back post to tap home.

That forced running penalties from the half-way line – and it was Saints who kept their composure to advance to the last four.

Sheridan and Liam Craig netted their penalties, with goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert in fine form to send us through.

The semi-final proved a step too far against a strong Celtic team who ran out 6-1 winners. Sheridan was on target for Saints.

Despite that result, it was a superb weekend of football, fun and camaraderie.

Thanks to all our supporters who made the journey through to the Braehead Arena in Glasgow!
