McInnes gives his thoughts on draw at Ross County

Manager Derek McInnes was suffering from mixed emotions this morning in the aftermath of the 2-2 draw at Ross County on Saturday.

He was hugely disappointed with the first half showing which saw his side go in at the interval two goals in arrears but was heartened by the transformation after the break which brought a point from the draw.

“The two goals we lost were very poor from our point of view and came about from certain players not doing their jobs. However we got a great reaction after half time which is the least that I would of expected-The players have a great pride in the unbeaten league run which began up there in September and there was at least a determination to maintain that.”

Derek felt that at least one the disallowed goals should have stood – “I have viewed the whole match on video and I can understand why one of the efforts was disallowed but I would contest the other decisions, especially Collin Samuel’s – he came from at least a yard behind Golabek and the goal should have stood. It was a big decision for the assistant to get wrong.”

Next up for Saints is a home fixture against Livingston on Saturday (the first home league match in seven weeks) and as part of the preparation for that a Saints side will play a Scotland under 21 select in a closed door fixture tomorrow. Steven Anderson, Kevin Moon, Peter MacDonald and Gavin Swankie are among the players who will get a run out against Billy Stark’s side.

On the injury front Steven Milne is expected to resume training on Thursday and hopes are high that he will be fit to face Livingston.
