LET'S HERE IT FOR THE BOYS!

26th July 2016

Come and back the boys in tomorrow's final game

Some may view it as a ‘meaningless fixture’ but with pride at stake – not to mention a sizeable cash incentive for finishing top of the bottom half of the SPL - tomorrow’s final match of the season against Hamilton Accies has plenty to recommend it and the hope is that plenty of Perth fans will turn out to support the team and show their appreciation for what has been achieved this season.

That equally applies to the visitors and for two clubs who have met each other at various lower levels of the Scottish game over the decades, the fact that Saints and Accies will finish – in one order of another – seventh and eighth in the country signals good times for both clubs and is a testament to managers Derek McInnes and Billy Reid. Less predictable thinking and voting amongst Scottish footballs great and good in recent weeks would surely have seen one or both of these managers rewarded for their efforts in the end of season awards.

It’s a 12.30pm kick-off and with a win each and a drawn encounter between the sides so far this season, it looks like it will be another tight affair but hopefully an open, entertaining one from two sides on good runs of form.

Long-serving Paul Sheerin may well be given a final bow in front of home fans but irrespective of his involvment he will definitely receive an on-pitch award around 12.15pm as the Player of the Decade as recently voted for by the members of a supporters internet forum.

Fans are also reminded that there will be Player of the Year awards given out in the Muirton Suite around 3.30pm and fans are welcome to attend.

It’s been a great season for Derek McInnes and the boys – why not come along tomorrow and show your appreciation?
