Coach Danny Griffin and Adam Shaeb, who played right-back on Tuesday night, provided their thoughts following the U19s 6-0 win away at Ayr United.
It was a third league victory on the spin for the young Saints following early season triumphs against Alloa Athletic and Livingston.
Danny said: “From the first minute to the last, they worked ever so hard. The boys got their reward by scoring six goals.
“That is also the second clean sheet in two games. I think this team always know that, if we do keep that clean sheet, someone up the other end will score.
“It has been pleasing that, what we’re working on in training, is transferring over to the matches.
“We even had a couple of the U17s in the squad on Tuesday and it is nice to seeing them all fitting in together.
“Of course, we’re happy to get the three points and six goals. But we move onto the next game.”
Adam said: “We started the game very well and carried that into the second half. Keeping a clean sheet was pleasing too.
“There were no excuses going into the game. Right from the first whistle we had to be on it because we know Ayr are a good team.
“For me personally, I was happy to do my job at right-back. I just want to play football. I’ll do whatever is needed for the team.”
He added: “We have been training a lot and working on things on and off the ball. You could see that on Tuesday.
“Everyone was brilliant through until the 90th minute, tracking back and helping each other out. We need to carry this on now. We can’t step off.”
