Kilmarnock Match Preview
17th May 2023

Saints travel to Ayrshire this Saturday to take on Kilmarnock as we look for a vital 3 points.
Last Time Out
Saints
Saints were left frustrated after going down to a 2-0 defeat to Motherwell at McDiarmid Park.
Saints enjoyed the better possession during the first half however, they couldn’t test Liam Kelly in the Motherwell goal.
Motherwell had a goal ruled out just after the half an hour mark when Kevin van Veen had the ball in the net however, the Main Stand Assistant’s flag went up for offside and following a VAR check it confirmed the decision to rule the goal out.
The Steelmen were awarded a penalty on 50 minutes following a foul by Andy Considine on Stephen O’Donnell just inside the box. Remi Matthews saved van Veen’s spot kick however, following a VAR check the penalty had to be retaken as Matthews had come off his line. Van Veen didn’t miss a second time as he dinked the ball down the middle to give Motherwell the lead.
Motherwell then wrapped up the points in stoppage time as Blair Spittal’s cross was slotted home by Mikael Mandron from close range.
Kilmarnock
Kilmarnock gave their Scottish Premiership survival a boost with a big victory 3 points against Livingston.
Kyle Vassell put Killie ahead three minutes into the second half. Danny Armstrong's penalty secured the victory for Derek McInnes's side as their good home form continued.
Steven MacLean Preview
“1st half last weekend we were by far the better side and we lacked a bit of quality in the final third. We then didn’t start well in the 2nd half.
"We know we have quality in the dressing room so we know we can fix that.
“Kilmarnock have a good record at home, but we also have a good record away, we are looking forward to Saturday.
“I know we have players in that dressing room that will come out fighting. We want this done as soon as possible so we will be going to Kilmarnock to win the game.
“David Wotherspoon should also be back for Saturday”

“We know how big a game this will be but we are going there to win.
“We had a recap over the Motherwell game and highlighted things we done well, but mainly we were shown what we didn’t do well enough and we will put those wrongs right on Saturday.
“We have to stand up and start putting away chances, I had one last weekend that I missed and I wasn’t happy with at all. A win on Saturday would be a big step in securing safety.”
