After Saturday’s game at Celtic Park, there was a special presentation made to the club’s longest-serving match day volunteer, Bruce McAlpine.

Well-known throughout Scottish football as the match day doorman at both Muirton Park and McDiarmid Park since 1976, the next couple of weeks will see Bruce complete his 40th season of involvement with the club and whilst he has no intention of stepping down from that role and will continue to be on match day door duty for many years to come, he has decided to bow out of travelling to away matches where his presence on the team bus and assistance with loading and unloading the huge amount of kit and equipment which every away match involves has been feature of Saints’ away days since 1987 – a mere 30 years!

To mark his final away trip with the team on Saturday Bruce was presented with a signed framed poster featuring an away match programme cover from every one of his 30 seasons of away games and he is shown here receiving the frame from Chairman Steve Brown with Vice Chairman Charlie Fraser, Football Administrator Paul Smith, players and staff also present.
