Preview | Motherwell (A)

We are back on the road today in what feels like the never-ending instalment of away days, this week, it is a trip to Motherwell.

Saints come into today's game after being defeated 2-1 by Celtic at McDairmid Park, and although it was a loss, the team can be incredibly proud of their performance.

Saints fought hard in the first half playing sharp football as well as carving out a couple of chances, but just after half time, Shaun Rooney fired Saints into the lead in the 50th minute with a towering bullet header.

However, the lead only lasted 10 minutes as two excellent pieces of play by Celtic's starman Odsonne Edouard fired the visitors into the lead. Celtic eventually held out to claim all three points.

The game may have ended in defeat for the Saints, but both players and fans can be extremely encouraged by what they have seen on the pitch.

We have played last seasons champions three times already, and each time, we have not shied away from the task at hand, putting up an incredible fight both at McDiarmid Park and on Celtics' home turf.

Today's opponents are no strangers to Saint. Today's game will be the fourth time we have faced them in all competitions this season, three times in the league and once in the League Cup's Quarter Finals. The record currently stands at one win, one draw and one loss, and Callum Davidson is desperate to add another win to that.

Motherwell come into today's clash after a tough 4-1 defeat to Hamilton last week, so will be coming into today's game with a point to prove.
