St Johnstone WFC: Ayr United (H) preview

St Johnstone Women switch their attention to Scottish Cup third round action on Sunday afternoon.

League rivals Ayr United are the visitors to the Riverside Stadium in Perth and kick-off is scheduled for 1pm.

Season tickets are not valid for this fixture and, as usual, it will be a cash gate. Prices are £5 for adults and £1 for concessions.  

Saints, who were without a competitive fixture last week, have defeated Ayr United twice in SWPL2 so far this campaign but manager Josh Henderson will not be taking anything for granted.

He said: “We gave the players some time off last weekend to give them some rest. It has been a normal training week from there to get prepared for Sunday’s match.

“We always look back at previous games we’ve played, but we prepare ourselves to the best of our ability and ensure we are ready.

“Ayr are a difficult side to play. We’ve picked up six points from our two games against them, but we have had to work hard for that. I’ve said it before, if you are not at it, anyone can take points off you.”

Josh added: “You are always looking for a cup run and that can help momentum for the league. Hopefully we can put in a good performance on Sunday and kick on.”
