Tommy Top Boss for November

Saints boss Tommy Wright has been named as the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership Manager of the Month for November.

It was a successful month for the manager as his players extended the current unbeaten run to six matches. Saints picked up seven points out of a possible nine in November with victories against Hibs and Hamilton followed by a goalless draw with Kilmarnock.

Speaking at McDiarmid Park this afternoon upon receiving his award, the manager was quick to praise his staff and players insisting that although he has received the recognition it's down to the efforts of the entire team.

"I'm delighted to have won the award," Tommy said, "it recognises how well we've been doing as a club this season.

"I always see awards like this as being for everybody involved. It's for Alec, Paul, Alan and the rest of the backroom team. And it's also for the players because it's them who have been performing well on the park.

"So I'd like to thank all of them because although I'm individually receiving this award it's down to everybody's hard work."

Although this award is for the month of November, the current unbeaten run stretches back to October and Tommy has singled out two games in particular that he says were the most memorable.

"The two last minute goals standout," he said.

"Going to a tough place like Motherwell and winning on the back of a heavy defeat to Celtic showed a lot of character. To win it so late is always special.

"Then there's the Hibs match where I thought we played brilliantly throughout and managed to grab all three points in the last minute.

"The fans love a late goal and particularly at Hibs because it's not the first time we've snatched a win there!"

Next up for Saints is the visit of Hearts tomorrow before a trip north to face Aberdeen at Pittodrie this weekend. It's two tough matches in a short space of time but the manager is confident his players can keep the run going.

"We've trained well this week," said Tommy, "and the players are dying for a game having not played at the weekend.

"We're one of the in-form teams in the country so Hearts will probably not be looking forward to coming up against us.

"We're expecting a tough match but if we play like we have done week in week out then we know we can be a match for anyone and I'm confident we can get a result."
