TIME LINE FROM INVERNESS

TIME LINE FROM INVERNESS

26th July 2016

Match report to follow.

90 + 3 mins - Willie Collum brings the game to a close. A poor one from Saints - plenty of the ball but precious little to show for it in terms of creating goal scoring chances. Inverness were nothing to write home about but they took the chances that came their way and that's all that matters.

90 + 1 mins - Caley break forward and had they not decided to play 'keep ball' might have carved out a chance.

90 mins - Saints have plenty of the ball but Caley are very comfortable. There will be three additional minutes.

88 mins - Chris Innes fires wide from 18 yards when he should have tested Enckelman.

86 mins - There looks to be no way back for us now. Those last five or six minutes have brought our best chances but still we trail by the two goals.

Today's attendance is 3,942

81 mins - Our best spell of the game and we gain another corner but Steven Anderson heads over.

79 mins - Great chance for Saints but davidson's shot is blocked for a corner. When that corner is cleared Novikovas picks it up and drives forward and drives is a great effort which is pushed away by Esson.

75 mins - Saints force two successive corners and from the second of those its our best chance of the game as Murray Davidson meets Grainger's kick flush on the forehead but it is a yard over the bar when it should have been on target.

73 mins - Peter MacDonald is on for Stevie May in the final Saints change.

70 mins - It's difficult to see how Saints can get back into this. Ryan Esson hasn't had a real save to make so far so things will have to change if we are to rescue anything here.

66 mins - It's nearly 3-0 as a Caley corner is fired goalwards and it just eases wide of the post with the Perth defence at sea.

65 mins - Duberry and Cox are both spoken to after a flare-up.

64 mins - Novikovas is on the end of a Stevie May cut back but his effort is charged down.

62 min - GOAL INVERNESS. Russell Duncan has turned an Adam Rooney cross into the net from six yards to give the home side breathing space. CALEY THISTLE 2 SAINTS 0

58 mins - Andy Jackson replaces Sam Parkin.

56 mins - Saints break quickly and Davidson does well to gain possession and feed Dave Mackay charging down the right but his cross drifts just wide of goal.

55 mins - Great chance for Caley after a Duncan free kick is knocked on to Aaron Doran but he volleys over the bar when well placed.

52 mins - Liam Craig tries one from 25 yards from a half-cleared ball but it's easy for Esson.

51 mins - Inverness replace David Proctor with Chris Innes.

48 mins - Richie Foran is spoken to for a clumsy aerial challenge with Danny Grainger.

46 mins - We are underway again with Saints shooting towards their support in the south stand.

45 mins - It's half time and Saints will need to 'up the ante' in the second half if they are to take something from this one. We have arguably had the biggest share of possession but we have created next to nothing and it's goals that count.

43 mins - Murray Davidson has had his final talking to by Willie Collum after a hefty challenge in the middle of the park.

40 mins - Saints have made a change - Chris Millar has been replaced by Arvydas Novikovas. I didn't notice if Millar looked like he was carrying a knock.

38 mins - That goal has killed the atmosphere at the away fans end and it is not helped by a game which is not rising any in quality.

28 mins - GOAL CALEY THISTLE. Simple affair from a corner kick on the right. When the ball came across, nobody tracked Ross Tokeley and he powered home the header. ICT 1 SAINTS 0

23 mins - Half-way through the first half and there is little write home about, it's poor stuff so far.

21 mins - May tries to connect with a Liam Craig cross with an overhead kick but misses and Caley break quickly with Adam Rooney who provides a great ball into the box to Richie Foran but he can't take control of it.

18 mins - Stevie May does well to create a shooting opportunity but he fires it straight at Esson.

16 mins - Murray Davidson is unlucky to just lose out in a chase for the ball with Ryan Esson. He actually emerges from the challenge with the ball but can't keep it in.

10 mins - Chris Millar tries his luck from 30 yards with a dipping volley from a Parkin knock-down but it drops just over the bar.

7 mins - Great ball from Morris down the right to Chris Millar who gains a throw but we can't make anything of it.

5 mins - Nothing of interest to report so far other than the great vocal backing from the Perth fans.

3 mins - Stevie May chases a Duberry long ball well but concedes a throw in.

Saints will defend the south stand in the first half and we are underway.

3.00pm - The teams come out and Saints are in their all-white change kit. There's a few more Saints fans in now and their backing is superb.

2.56pm - The Saints support doesn't that big in terms of numbers but the 'Blue and White Away Day' is certainly in evidence in terms of noise and colours.

2.52 pm - Welcome to the Highlands for this afternoon's game against Caley Thistle. In contrast to the snowy weather encountered on the way up the A9, the Highland capital is bathed in sunshine. Unfortunately, the sun is shining straight onto this laptop screen making it virtually inpossible to see!!

For this afternoon's SPL encounter in Inverness, Manager Derek McInnes has made two changes from the side that knocked Partick Thistle out of the Scottish Cup with Liam Craig and Sam Parkin coming in for Cleveland Taylor and Collin Samuel - neither of these two even make the bench.
