SAINTS HEAD FOR LIVINGSTON

SAINTS HEAD FOR LIVINGSTON

26th July 2016

The league action continues this Saturday with a trip to Almondvale to meet Livingston.

After the break for World Cup qualifiers it’s back to league action this weekend as Saints travel to meet Livingston at Almondvale on Saturday and if they are looking to continue the good work achieved in the four weeks running up to the break then they will have to rediscover the form shown at the West Lothian venue last season.

Two visits to Almondvale in the last campaign brought two 2-0 wins for Saints. Back in October 2007 Livvy became the latest in a line of clubs who fell victim to the little and large combination of Andy Jackson and Kenny Deuchar who were enjoying a purple patch of goalscoring in each other’s company – each of them grabbed a goal in the success.

Five months later and Saints were back at the same venue and achieved the same scoreline but this time the goals were down to just one man, Rocco Quinn, who netted two of the best goals seen during that campaign.

The season before, 2006/07, Saints found league points harder to come by at the same venue.

A 1-1 draw in September 2006 saw Jason Scotland net the Saints goal but when Saints returned in the early weeks of 2007 goals from Willie McLaren and Andy Lawrie were not enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat.

So, as the teams get ready to meet up again on Saturday, lets hope the players can turn the clock back a year and return to Perth with a win under their belts.
